Coinbase Launches International Exchange:- The largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States announced today the launch of the Coinbase International Exchange, expanding access to digital assets for institutional clients. The new venture follows regulatory approval from the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA), and the new exchange will initially offer Bitcoin and Ethereum perpetual futures.
Coinbase International Exchange
The Coinbase International Exchange is now open for business, offering institutional investors access to Bitcoin and Ethereum futures contracts. The new venture has been approved by the Bermuda Monetary Authority, and will provide a much-needed outlet for investment in the digital asset space.
“The Coinbase International Exchange is a key part of our plans to scale globally—going broad and deep, lighting up the map—first announced in May of 2022,” Emmanuel Goh, Head of Coinbase International Exchange, told Decrypt in an email.
Perpetual futures are futures contracts without an expiration date. This means that traders can hold their positions indefinitely, regardless of market conditions.
Coinbase is planning to Focus
Coinbase is planning to focus its international expansion drive on high-bar regulatory jurisdictions, a Coinbase spokesperson told Decrypt in March. “We remain focused on offering our products in a safe, compliant way, with sound risk management at the core,” the spokesperson said.
Coinbase said it is committed to the U.S., but observed that countries worldwide are increasingly moving forward with responsible, crypto-forward regulatory frameworks as they attempt to position themselves as crypto hubs.
This is great news for Coinbase, as it shows that the company is being recognized for its forward-thinking approach to crypto regulation. Other countries are starting to see the benefits of crypto, and are looking to Coinbase to help them create crypto-friendly legislation. This is a huge opportunity for Coinbase, and the company is sure to capitalize on it.
Coinbase believes that the U.S.
Coinbase believes that the U.S. could learn from its own example, and move away from the enforcement-based regulation that has stunted crypto growth in the States. The Coinbase International Exchange is an expansion, designed to bring the most reliable and trusted name in crypto to the global market.
Coinbase announced that it will use USD Coin (USDC) to settle all trades on its new International Exchange. The new exchange will have several security features, including real-time 24/7 risk management, dynamic margin requirements, and rigorous compliance standards.
Coinbase said institutional clients in eligible non-US jurisdictions can access its platform directly through an API, although retail customers will not initially have access.
Coinbase Launches International Exchange
Coinbase, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, has announced the launch of its new international exchange. The exchange, which is available in over 100 countries, will allow customers to trade a variety of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin.
“As more and more markets are moving forward with regulatory frameworks to become crypto hubs, we believe the moment is right to launch this international exchange,” Coinbase said in a statement. The company added that the new exchange will make it easier for customers to trade cryptocurrencies around the world.
Coinbase, the largest U.S. cryptocurrency exchange, has been locked in a battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and its chair Gary Gensler since the agency charged ex-Coinbase product manager Ishan Wahi and his brother Nikhil with insider trading in July 2022. In a recent court filing, the SEC hinted that nine digital assets on the exchange were unregistered securities.
